This illustration was used for a friend's wedding reception sign-in-book. I had the image in my head right away when they asked me to do this. I drew the concept in one sketch, inked it and that was that. Don't you love it when a plan comes together? Couldn't find the motivation to color it though :-(

Here's some more talent from my brother...I remember he drew this as fan art for a newspaper submission.  My mom was supposed to send this in but never got around to it.  This could've been Jai's ticket to being discovered as a young comic book prodigy.  I swear, some people are just born with it.  Keep working Chung... Anyway.  My brother was about 13 when he drew this and this picture is probably responsible for why I'm such a anime zealot.  Z Gundam baby!

Autobots! Roll OUT!

I was going through some REAL old boxes in my condo and found this!  My brother, Jai, drew this with ball point pen sometime in the 80's when he first came to America.  Transformers was his favorite cartoon and he could draw all the characters before he could even say their names.  Wow...he sure is talented...I don't even think I could do something like this today.

Super Why to the RESCUE! This is an illustration I did for the Super Why toy line I'm working on at RC2.  I did a series of these "cereal box" vingnettes for a story telling concept and each is based on a theme from the show. I liked this one in particular because I think visually it flows smoothly and it's just staight out funny. I love Alpha Pig eyeballing the crab! You can see the original rough blue line on top and how it got improved with clean up and color. I LOVE CINTIQ! Hip Hip HOORAY!

So every year at my pseudo-parent's house there's a block party for the neighborhood that's off the hook! It's the guaranteed once a year guilty pleasure where I know I can do the electric slide, chicken dance, and the hokey pokey all in the same day. Yeah, it's cheesy but I love it. Tons of kids and food. Plus a Sno-Cone machine! Anyway, Mom always asks me to do the flyer for the event and I try to come up with something fun each time. This year's theme was a 50's flashback party and Gemma made all these Poodle skirts for the girls to dress up in. So I ran with that theme and did a pink poodle motif for the poster. This is a modified version where I took out most of the copy and focused on the graphic. I'm hoping this will give me some confidence to do other posters that I have been promising but have been slacking on big time. GET TO WORK CHUNG!

Lincoln? Meet Obama, the president of the United States.

This piece was done in honor of Lincoln's 200th Birthday.  It was a submission for the Chicago Art Department (Same gallery where I submitted the zombie Poe painting) who was holding a art show specifically for the occasion.  I had some help from my metal's experts in LA and Peccatonica.  Thanks Michael and Eric!  I needed to oxidize pennies and fast.  They pointed me to Liver of Sulfer, a noxious chemical that turns copper black is seconds fast!  I made the stencil out of a picture I found online and modified it to my needs a-la-Shepard Fairey.  I hope I don't run into retarded legal trouble for it...idiots.  The piece might have worked better with new pennies but I like the fact that they were all from different years.  I think it reflects how Obama's rise into history came from all these factors from our past.  And the juxtaposition with Lincoln is just perfect.

Beacon of White

Finally!  After 2 years of working on bikes, researching components and bike building skills, I finally finished the Beacon frame that was "rescued" from my condo bike room.  You can't imagine how difficult it was to find white bicycle parts!!!  So I ended up custom painting the pieces myself.  Note* never mix enamel and acrylic!  She's at the MAX! (at least to my standards)  Shimano Ultegra crankset, headset, and front brake.  VeloOrange pedals, SRAM aerobrake, carbon fork, Specialized Toupe carbon seat and white elkskin leather handle grips.  I strapped a couple of white frog lights on for safety.  My back is hating me for this but I love this baby!

Master of the Macabre

My friend Kerry Flaherty, an incredibly talented plush artist, is a resident artist the Chicago Art Department http://www.chicagoartdepartment.org/ and she hosted a show called "Night of the Living Artist" We were having lunch one day and she said, "Let's turn our favorite artist into a Zombie." To which I replied, " Yes, lets." And so she made a whole production out of it and had artist from around the nation contribute pieces for the show. This is my rendition of Edgar Allen Poe as a resurrected raven zombie. I used Tempera paint on floorboards and it's about 3ft tall. Killer.

VollyBot

Ah! Domo Arigato Vollybot! I created this guy for a charity event that was vollyball related. Not quite sure what the cause was for but the big idea was to take a vollyball and to "decorate" it and sell it off in a silent auction. The proceeds obviously going toward the cause. I used a pre-existing toy, a Mighty Mugg Silver Surfer, and cannibalized it for this guy's body. It's all custom painted. I heard afterwards that it went for something like $280, the highest bid for any piece! I hope he found a happy home. Go Vollybot!
